Sense-making Strategies for MOOC Research

“Sense-making Strategies for MOOC Research” webinar took place on Wednesday, 22 May 2019 at 15:30 CEST with Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl from the Dublin City University, Ireland in EDEN’s dedicated Adobe Connect room.
This webinar discussed the methodological case for adopting particular sense-making strategies and a variety of techniques to aid with data reduction, analysis and presentation of MOOC data to support specific learning design or redesign objectives providing examples from the Ideas Lab@ NIDL in DCU’s current research programme. It also explored some of the problems and gaps in current research and the potential for mixed method designs to allow researchers to engage with a wider variety of research questions and topics.
Dr.Mairéad Nic Giolla Mhichíl is currently an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow, with the National Institute of Digital Learning in Dublin City University, researching Massive Open Online Courses and implementing the University’s Strategic Initiative in this area. She is Head of the Ideas Lab, a teaching an learning innovation and research unit in the NIDL She is a Fulbright Scholar with the University of Notre Dame in the USA and Senior Lecturer in Information Technology in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in DCU.
