WATCH THE RECORDING VIEW THE PRESENTATIONThis interactive session will explore critical thinking in higher education. The session will begin with Prof. Antonella Poce, and Dr. Maria Rosaria Re exploring the role of museums and digital storytelling in the development of student’ critical thinking skills in the University of Roma Tre. Then, Dr Orla Feeney will describe her DCUBS Critical Thinking in Business module, which enables students to apply critical thinking skills to real life situations.

Francesa is a member of the SC of the EDEN Network of Academic and Professionals. She is a PhD candidate in Experimental Pedagogy with a research on semi-automated assessment of Critical Thinking in essays and open-ended answers (AES) carried out under the supervision of Professor A. Poce (Roma TRE University).
Her expertise is in the e-learning field both as practitioner and researcher. She has worked as e-learning tutor and instructional designer since 2015. She has carried out research related to blended learning and Critical Thinking.
Orna Farrell

Assistant Professor- National Institute for Digital Learning, Coordinator- Digital Learning Design Unit, Dublin City University.
Orna holds a Phd in Education from Trinity College. Working within DCU’s National Institute for Digital Learning Orna’s research interests include online pedagogy, online student success and engagement, and eportfolio based learning. She is principal investigator of the National Forum funded project #Openteach: professional development for open online educators. Orna is a founding member of Eportfolio Ireland, a professional learning network for eportfolio practitioners and researchers.

Antonella Poce is senior EDEN fellow and currently holds the post of Associate Professor (qualified as a full professor), in Experimental Pedagogy at the department of Education – University Roma TRE, where she directs the Centre for Museum Studies and the postgraduate courses: annual “Museum Education” and biennial “Advanced Studies in Museum Education”. She coordinates national units within European project frameworks and she has been chairing international academic committees dealing with distance learning She is author of different publications of national and international relevance on the topics of innovation, assessment and use of technology in teaching and learning, in the context of heritage fruition.
Maria Rosaria Re

Research Fellow, Centre for Museum Studies, University Roma TRE
Dr Maria Rosaria Re is Research Fellow at the Centre for Museum Studies, University Roma TRE (IT) and EDEN fellow. In 2020 she obtained a PhD in Experimental Pedagogy. She used to be Temporary researcher, Department of Education – Università Roma TRE, carrying out research work in interactive teaching and learning online with specific reference to MOOC (Massive Online Open Courses) in museum education. She has been cooperating with the Centre for Museum Studies (University of Roma Tre) since 2013 and took part in national and European research projects in the field of museum education, digital and transverse skills development, critical thinking promotion, new learning methodologies, evaluation.
Orla Feeney
Associate professor in accounting, Dublin City University Business School
Chartered accountant
Dr. Orla Feeney is a chartered accountant and associate professor in accounting in Dublin City University Business School. She lectures predominantly in the areas of management accounting and research methodology. Her research interests include the role of the accountant in business, the impact of digital technology on accounting and strong structuration theory. Her work has been published in journals including Accounting, Audit and Accountability Journal and Qualitative Research in Accounting & Management.
