Description:
The presentation will focus on the importance of digital education skills in the contemporary world, especially in the Commonwealth. Focusing on the design, development and experiences of the Commonwealth Digital Education Leadership Training in Action (C-DELTA) framework and its implementation in the Commonwealth and beyond, it will elaborate on the efforts of COL in promoting open, distance and technology-enabled learning models and best practices. Participants will be able to contextualise these developments to the European Commission’s Digital Education Action Plan (2021-2027).

Ebba Ossiannilsson is the Vice-President of the Swedish Association for Distance Education (SADE) and researchers and staff member at the Lund University in Sweden. Ebba has served as EDEN NAP Steering Committee member, and is a long time EDEN member. She is a member of the Editorial Board of EURODL. Ebba has been involved in international and national projects and networks in the areas of open and distance learning, OER, MOOC, social media, learning analytics, mobile learning and open education in general, with a special focus on quality. Her Phd thesis focused on benchmarking e-learning in higher education and led ICDE’s quality standard study (Quality models in online and open education around the globe: State of the art and recommendations) in 2014-2015.

Sanjaya Mishra

Dr Sanjaya Mishra joined COL as Education Specialist: eLearning at its headquarters in Canada on 2 January 2015. Previously, he served COL as Director of the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) from 1 July 2012 to 31 December 2014. Dr Mishra is one of the leading scholars in open, distance and online Learning. Prior to joining COL, he was Programme Specialist (ICT in Education, Science and Culture) at UNESCO, Paris.
Dr Mishra has over 25 years of experience in design, development and management of open and distance learning programmes. With a blend of academic and professional qualifications in library and information science, distance education, television production and training and development, he has been promoting the use of educational multimedia, eLearning and use of open educational resources (OER) and open access to scientific information around the world. During his service in different capacities at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), amongst many innovative activities and programmes, he developed the OER-based one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in eLearning.
