“Lessons from a pandemic for the future of education”
Dear Members, Partners and Friends,
With the EDEN Virtual Annual Conference only six weeks away, we inform you that due to the upcoming festive period and long weekend in several countries (Ascension Day) the submission deadline has been extended to Monday, 17 May. The registration for the event, hosted by the National Distance Education University UNEDwill be opened on 15 May, 2021.
So far, with eleven acclaimed keynotes, special Conference Sessions including a European Digital Education Hub (EDEH) Workshop and a keynote presentation on the Digital Education Action Plan 2021-2027, a PhD Symposium led by international experts as well as bestowing the Young Scholars’ Grants, we await your contributions as well as participation. The evaluation of the submitted contributions is continuous, the Call remains open until 17 May.
Accepted Full paper contributions with registered authors will be published online in the electronic Conference Proceedings (ISSN: 2707-2819), under a Creative Commons license. The Conference Proceedings Full papers will be submitted to indexing by scientific databases as CEEOL, SCOPUS, PROQUEST, EBSCO. Workshop, poster, demonstration and synergy contributions will be published online in the Short Paper Book, and will be promoted on all EDEN communications channels to reach an even wider audience. The presenters will be able to reach around 300 experts in the field during the Conference and more than 12.000 experts via promotion through EDEN channels.

European Digital Education Hub (EDEH) Workshop
EDEN dedicates a special Workshop to the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH), a key action in the framework of the Conference. EDEH is contributing a paper on “Digitalisation of the student journey: a holistic approach to seamless exchange in Europe.” The European Digital Education Hub responds to the need for reinforced cooperation and dialogue between different stakeholders in the area of digital education. Cooperation via the EDEH which is a part of the Erasmus+ programme 2021-2027, strives to achieve systemic impact and identify sustainable solutions, supporting education and training in the long term.

PhD Symposium
The EDEN 2021 PhD Symposium Madrid will be organized on 21 June 2021, in the frame of the conference. The Symposium, held in previous years in Barcelona (2018), Bruges (2019), Dublin (2019), Timisoara (2020), Lisbon (2020) has been designed to foster the exchange of experiences and knowledge among doctoral students doing research in the area of technology enhanced online, digital, open and distance learning, providing a valuable forum for the advancement of doctoral research. Young Scholars Grants
The Ulrich Bernath Foundation for Research in Open and Distance Learning will support 4 young scholarsor teams of young scholars with a grant of 300 Euros for submitting a significant contribution (Full paper) to the EDEN Annual Conference.
The grants will be handed out by bank transfer after the EDEN Annual Conference in Madrid. Eligible candidates are invited to contact the organisers at: madrid2021@eden-online.org before submitting their Full Paper.
